Estonia taps Speed Identity for passport equipment

Speed Identity has won a contract from the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board to supply it with passport enrolment equipment.

This latest deal will see the number of Speed Capture B1000 enrolment systems used by Estonia extended to 20 units. They are being deployed at several new sites to make passport application and enrolment available nationwide for the country’s citizens.

Speed Identity won a previous tender to supply Estonia with enrolment equipment five years ago.

According to the company, the country has received international recognition for its early adoption of Passports as well as for the robust security of the issuance process and the document itself.

Speed Identity says: “Tough requirements for passport photos resulted in the implementation of a photo-booth solution delivering maximum control over the illumination while reducing the sensitivity to ambient light.”

“The new contract confirms our position as quality leader in live enrolment,” says Magnus Löfgren, CEO, Speed Identity. “With many customers looking for the lowest-cost solutions, we are happy that the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board can maintain their focus on high-quality photography and document integrity.
