Planet Biometrics has unveiled a sleeker web portal that offers readers more interactive features and better coverage amid growing demand for news, interviews, and information about the burgeoning biometrics industry.

Led by industry expert and editor, Mark Lockie, the website has grown into the publication of record for the biometrics industry since launching in 2008. The website’s re-launch comes amid rising traffic figures and geographic reach, with page views surging 85% in the last 12 months alone.

“Today we are launching a faster, smarter and better-designed website because there is a need for broader and more insightful coverage of the sector as public interest in it explodes,” said Lockie.

“Readers want to be the first to hear breaking stories – and to understand the ramifications of new developments, whether on the latest killer application, a ground-breaking new product, or business-related twists and turns of this fast-moving industry.”

Planet Biometrics is renowned throughout the industry for breaking more news stories than anyone else – and then following up those stories with deeper and bolder coverage. The acclaimed team of editors is guided by a highly-respected panel of expert contributors who have accumulated decades of experience at the highest levels within the biometrics sector.

The publication was originally created to promote industry expertise, give critical analysis, uncover breaking news, and, most importantly, provide educational information and advice for end users. These ideals will remain at the core of the new site.

Lockie, who for more than a decade was editor of the respected Biometric Technology Today journal and Conference Director of the acclaimed Biometrics conference in London, is confident the revamp will bring further success to the publication.

“I expect this re-launch to cement our position at the forefront of biometric and identity industry reporting,” he said, adding that there are a number of other plans nearing completion that will boost Planet Biometrics’ reach and readership to even greater levels.
