Biometric firm FotoNation has revealed that it will showcase its biometrics, electronic image stabilization (EIS) and advanced face analytics solutions at an upcoming conference.

FotoNation will be highlighting its advanced biometrics to deliver high security and advanced analytics in the mobile market at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, February 22-25, 2016, the firm noted in a statement.

“From iris recognition to facial recognition capabilities, new smartphones are able to quickly and securely authenticate user ID where correct detection of the user is vital through its camera in less than half-a-second.

“These new features protect user’s privacy while protecting against ID fraud in banking, m-commerce transactions and access to subscription services. Additionally, biometrics can enable deeper analysis of who’s in the picture or video frame and what’s around them. With smartphones being an extension of the user and taken everywhere, there is an endless supply of photos/videos that are being captured”.

Last February, UK-based iris recognition firm Smart Sensors was acquired by FotoNation, a provider of computational imaging solutions for smartphones and digital cameras.
