NEC Corporation of America (NEC) has announced the introduction of SmartScan, an advanced multi-modal biometric capture solution.
The technology claims an ergonomic design and a Microsoft Windows 10 user interface and is designed for law enforcement agencies and civil departments.
According to NEC, livescan stations today suffer from having a clunky design, an outdated user interface, lack of security features and are difficult to support and maintain. NEC’s SmartScan has implemented a more modern user interface and screens utilizing Microsoft Windows 10 with touch, pinch-and-zoom and swipe features now common on all devices.
The overall package is housed in a visually pleasing, height adjustable, ergonomically designed kiosk with larger foot pedals for improved fingerprint and palmprint capture.
The system has also implemented enhanced security measures to protect from intrusion and malware attacks.
According to Raffie Beroukhim, senior vice president, Biometrics Solutions Division, NEC, “SmartScan delivers breakthrough ergonomics, intuitive software, a user-friendly operating system and efficient multi-modal biometric accurate image capture in any environment.”
