Law enforcement authorities in Bengaluru, capital of India's southern Karnataka state, plan to launch a procurement process for an advanced fingerprint recognition system.
Amid plans for a mobile system, the department will soon float tenders for the development of software solutions working with a handheld device, reports the Economic Times.
The software will be installed on the tablets and mobile phones of policemen deployed as patrol teams.
The department has already commissioned a study by PwC on the fingerprint database system in the state and the consultancy has submitted an 800-page report on how to improve the criminal tracking system by adopting new ways of fingerprint technologies.
