Computer security firm Kensington has launched a mobile USB fingerprint reader that uses Synaptics technology.

Called VeriMark, the mobile USB key uses a sensor from Synaptics Natural ID range.

The company has said the device aims at securing online transactions.

“Due to the rapid growth of online payments, combined with the critical need for protecting access to PC data for businesses and consumers, biometric authentication has become the de facto standard for high performance security,” said Godfrey Cheng, Vice President of Marketing, Human Interface Systems Division (HISD) Synaptics.

Synaptics Natural ID solutions are FIDO Certified (Fast IDentity Online).
