Digital Barriers using SmartVis Tripwire face recognition system

Surveillance technology firm Digital Barriers has revealed that it is using a SmartVis Tripwire face recognition system.

The firm has said the technology is in use with European military customers as well as security agencies in the United States and Asia, SmartVis Tripwire provides a very narrowband live video stream of under 20 kbits/sec over a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) connection. It can be hosted on Windows, Android, or iOS platforms.

Manuel Magalhaes, Digital Barriers' vice-president, global alliances, told Jane’s that depending on the camera lens SmartVis can identify faces at up to a 300 m range and can provide a match in less than a second from a database of three million.

Digital Barriers provided the first public display of its SmartVis Tripwire non-consensual face recognition system at DSEI 2017 in London.
