Slovakian biometrics firm Innovatrics has introduced SmartFace Server, a universal facial recognition technology designed for applications such as real-time face detection, recognition, age/gender detection and unique visitor counting.

The firm said that SmartFace solves the typical problems associated with face recognition SDKs such as lack of specialist biometric expertise, long integration times, and problems working with video files, multiple IP camera streams, or low-end hardware.

Commenting on the launch, Jan Lunter, Innovatrics founder and CTO said: "With SmartFace, we're delivering a smart, flexible technology which can be easily integrated and applied to a multitude of use cases. This technology amounts to a 'plug and play' solution to face recognition for application developers, integrators, and IT suppliers."

The company added that SmartFace is capable of carrying out advanced demographic analysis and does not require any biometric know-how to integrate. Additionally, the proprietary liveness verification algorithm, developed using deep neural networks, makes the solution virtually spoof-proof.
