Biometric eGates fit for purpose?

Governments risk wasting taxpayers hard-earned money on biometric automated border control (ABC) systems if they don't pay enough attention to biometric enrolment.

Georg Hasse, senior consultant, secunet, and Magnus Löfgren, sales and marketing director, Speed Identity, argue in a new article that there is still plenty of room for improvement.

"Governments should be considering total cost of ownership to ensure they get value for money. This may mean that they spend more money on higher quality document personalisation processes during the implementation phase of an ePassport or eID project to ensure less long-term expenditure as well as greater economies of scale."
