The International Standardisation committee on Biometrics has noted that an upcoming meeting will discuss a definition of standardized performance assessment for Presentation Attack Detection (PAD).

Reporting that this is a “very relevant topic for the biometric community”, expert Christoph Busch added that the related standard, ISO/IEC 30107-3, will build on top of the already published framework (ISO/IEC 30107-1) and will pave the road for future system evaluations and certifications of biometric capture devices.

The published standard ISO/IEC 30107-1 "Biometric Presentation Attack Detection - Part 1: Framework" is freely accessible here.

The group (ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37) will be meeting in Paris on July 20 and 21 to discuss the issue.

Over the last years the International Standardisation committee on Biometrics has generated a number of relevant standards that are now widely in use.

Examples include: ISO/IEC 19794-5:2005 "Biometric data interchange formats - Part 5: Face image data" used in electronic Passport, and ISO/IEC 19795-1:2006 "Biometric performance testing and reporting - Part 1: Principles and framework," which is used in numerous relevant algorithm and system evaluations.

The committed advised that interested parties should join a national standardisation body (and the respective mirror-committee of SC37) and register as soon as possible with the local host of the Paris meeting by contacting:
