Turkish bank to use Daon face tech

Biometric identity technology firm Daon has announced that Akbank has deployed Daon’s IdentityX facial recognition technology.

Akbank is the first bank in Turkey to deploy facial recognition technology for mobile banking authentication.

Akbank has embraced the concept of authentication as a platform and is committed to expanding the role of biometrics throughout its customers’ journeys and touch points with Daon’s IdentityX at the heart of the omni-channel platform.

“Nearly 250,000 of Akbank’s mobile banking users opted-in to use the facial recognition technology almost immediately, said Tom Grissen, CEO, Daon. “This is one of the fastest-growing user adoptions we have seen globally. This year, Akbank was named “The Most Valuable Banking Brand in Turkey” in Brand Finance’s research for the seventh consecutive year. Last May, the bank launched a nationwide marketing campaign and user volumes prior were very healthy. Daon worked with NTT Data based in Turkey to bring the innovative solution to the bank.
